Toxocara is a new band from Groningen (a beautiful city in the north of the Netherlands) with members from Katafalk and some other metal and death metal bands. This promo contains four brutal death metal songs with brutal grunts. The promo starts with a sample from the movie Natural Born Killers. I don’t really understand why bands want to use these kinds of samples because in my opinion they don’t have any surplus value. During the songs they also use a lot of samples which I can understand because it sounds cool and they have a surplus value.

The songs are played pretty well and have a few nice guitar solos.

“Visceral Larval Migrans” (the title song of this promo) is an example of this. The song is not only about heavy grunting and loud drums but has also a nice slower part in the middle. A nice guitar solo follows this slower part. All the songs are a bit the same, don’t understand me wrong that’s not a bad thing, that’s a good thing in this particular case.

Another thing about this band is that there is a girl (woman), she plays the bass. I think there need to be more women in this scene. So is this the beginning of the emancipation of the woman in the death metal scene?
