Some nice rhythms, some nice bass sections but most of all just plain and simple guitar rock with unpolished, eighties Beasty Boys vocals. Zomotta’s Call 4 Glory in one sentence. If this would be the bands debut, one might have written that this band sounds promising. Fact is that Call 4 Glory is the band’s second album release after the 2001 debut Wandertrieb and one could expect a little bit more than 50 minutes of the same boring guitar and punk orientated rock. Listening to the tracks one gets the impression that every single individual ‘invention’ was turned into a song by adding some basic riffs, chords and the occasional melody. There are some nice songs on the album though. The better songs are the ones where the bass is dominant in the mix, “Notorious” for example, or where the band shows a bit more experimental side (Disco).

A track like “Pickin’ It Up” however sounds terrible just for the simple fact that it reminds me of ancient times when I was listening to taped copies on cheap cassette players; an absolute lack of depth and dynamics resulting in an old fashioned sounding basement recording. Listening to the album is somewhat like watching your daily soap on television. After thirty minutes of watching you can’t remember any specific things that happened. The big difference between a soap and a Zomotta album is that the day after you find yourself drawn to the TV once more, where Call For Glory disappears somewhere in your cd rack.
