What is it with those Frenchies? One moment you hear nothing from that country regarding metal music and the other moment one great album after the other is released in France. Colleague Frank praised Yyrkoon’s latest album and the new albums of Anorexia Nervosa and Distress were reviewed by yours truly, as is … From Birth, the first full length of D.S.K.
This time I’m not presenting you symphonic black metal or intense doom metal, but grooving grind core combined with death and thrash metal. In less than an hour 12 songs (including a Napalm Death cover) are blasting through from speakers. The production of this album is very good; the guitars sound dirty in a death metal kind of way and the drums sound great too. | |
The brutal grunts of singer Nicolas are really low and fit the music perfectly.
Actually, it’s kind of funny that D.S.K. plays death metal, because they started, back in 1997, as a heavy thrash band with the name Descamisados. After a lot of line-up changes and two EP’s, the band changed their name to D.S.K. You want to know why? Fans of the band called the band Desca, which was obviously shorter than Descamisados. After that they only kept the three letters which in French have got the same pronunciation: D.S.K. The second EP of the band was well received which resulted in … From Birth. So if you’re in brutal music, try to get your hands on this album. It’s worth it. (Lars) |
