Australian Pop/rock band Globe gave me exactly seven minutes to make up my mind about the band, no easy task. Move Closer features two tracks, the single and the B-side “Let Me Out”. At first listening the skilled rhythm section of the band really stood out; strong powerful bass and catchy drums. The so called ‘rare vocal talent of their vocalist Lorenzo’ took more time to please me. To be true, I wouldn’t have put this statement into the info leaflet if I were part of the band. The sound of his voice reminds me of Arid’s front man Jasper Steverlinck, but is not half as good. | |
Reading the info leaflet makes you lose the little sympathy you might have for this young band. Pretending to create world-class rock comparing their songs to real journeys... There’s nothing wrong with being confident, but the music proves that Globe is a bit overconfident (I won’t make the predictable reference to the name of the band). Globe is nothing more than just one of the many pop/rock bands influenced by most of the popular pop/rock bands like Keane, Coldplay, Radiohead and others. If you’re into these bands you might be interested in Globe. (Geert) |
