That Belgium is a good country for (alternative) rock music should be known by now. Look at the list of great bands from there and it says it all. It was long quiet on the modern metal front, but their answer to that is as well as you can expect from a country that clearly believe in the opportunity to let alternative music rise. The Semitones are much more than the obvious repeating of an American band. The music of "Glitch" is more a mixture between the likes of the Galactic Cowboys (hear the musical breaks in the songs and especially the use of the chorus lines), Laberinto/ Soulfly (listen to the drum rhythms) and other difficult to place influences. | |
The result is great music with difficult breaks, beautiful voices, angry voices and a whole lot of dynamic moments. Wqith the right support they even could have some single material as well. Listen to the more accessible quieter songs as `PFP` and `Dread The Signs` for instance. That the so called modern metal bands can`t play is - again - denied with this impressive album. Listen to songs like `Members Only`, `Disco King` and `Luke Capone` and find out yourself. (Ron) |
