It’s nice to come across an info leaflet that is not filled with superlative after superlative. Jewel In The Mire is a band that is clearly down to earth, modest and honest. They state that their music is influenced by bands like Guns ‘n Roses, The Cult, Velvet Revolver and Aerosmith. They could have added many other rock bands and some roll bands as well. Every song actually seems to be influenced by one of the big names in rock (‘n roll) history. The second track “Believe In Me” could have easily been on a Rolling Stones album and is one of the many highlights on Getting Away With Murder. The band describes their music as furious straightforward in your face rock and there’s not much I can add to that but ‘excellent’.
Jewel In The Mire presents itself as a energetic stage band and although I haven’t witnessed any of their gigs, the album proves that they’ve got the music to get a crowd going. | |
Just listen to the incredible “Hey Now” (previously released as a single in 2001) and you’ll know what I mean. This song alone makes this album worth buying blindly. Getting Away With Murder is cool the Blues Brothers and Quentin Tarantino way. The album has already been released in 2003, but after signing with Rokarola Records they decided to re-release it with an acoustic version of “Streets At Night” as a bonus track. For those of you that didn’t buy the first release of this album; you can make up for this mistake by buying Getting Away With Murder now. (Geert) |
