Shackled Down from Poland is a relatively new band and was formed in 2002. Since the beginning the band has had the intention of playing a mix of hardcore (think early Sick Of It All) and thrash (think D.R.I. and Cryptic Slaughter). It’s not very innovative, but the music is very catchy.
Lyrically the music is very diverse, dealing with issues like unity and competition within the hardcore scene, rumors, jealousy and family ties. The production is raw and old school style. | |
But every instrument, including the vocals, is mixed in very well. So if you were afraid of well oiled drum-kit sounds, there’s nothing to fear, the drums sound great!
My only ‘negative’ comment about this album is its length. Personally I think it is way too short. Sure, I know that hardcore albums don’t break any records regarding album length, but 17 minutes is a bit on the short side. (Lars) |
