I guess this is the most difficult review for me to write in my short Rockezine history. Auf Gedeih Und Verderb is a raw black metal album, that’s for sure. But, there are actually a lot of different influences on this album. What I mean to say is that it’s not a blast fest or that the music is keyboard driven. There is a little bit of everything; sometimes the music sounds raw and primitive and like two minutes later the music is totally different, going on in mid-tempo groove.

The production of this album is old school too, at least in my opinion.

The guitars sound extremely distorted with too many mid and high tones. The keyboards give the music a gloomy vibe, especially in combination with the shrieking vocals.

The artwork of the album is great; it’s not the standard pure black lay-out you so often come across with black metal releases. Sure, there’s no pink or purple or orange, well actually there are no other colors than black and white, but still this lay-out differs from the rest. And that’s a good thing.
