The Aerium’s Song For The Dead King is not a good album and I probably would have left it at that if it weren’t for the inspiring info leaflet. The writer defines the music of this Russian band with the symphonic heavy power metal in the vain of Nightwish and Epica. If I were in one of these bands I would seriously consider suing the guy who came op with that cunning reference. The only comparison I could make between The Aerium and Epica is the fact that both are making music; in the case of Epica, good music and in the case of The Aerium bad music. Another selling point that is mentioned are the so called amazing female vocals of Veronika. | |
If this is your definition of amazing you’ve got one or two wires that need reattaching. The only thing amazing about the opera vocals is the fact that they turned up on an album release.
The music is not worth mentioning either. The tracks are without exception dull and horrible sounding. There is not a single moment where The Aerium comes within reach of the ‘magnificent symphonic heavy-metal journey’ they promised. Song For A Dead King is a journey that makes your soul cry.
