My first impression of this album wasn’t too great. I mean what can you expect from a band with the corny name Made Of Iron and an album cover that looks like it has been designed 20 year ago. Not only that, the cover is as cliché as it can get. However, like the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover and this definitely applies to metal as well.

Made Of Iron delivers exactly what you’d expect: old school classic heavy metal. The production is pretty weak but in line with the whole ideology behind the music. It sounds old school and underground. The songs are generally pretty decent but lack variety, mostly because they are too longwinded (some tracks are well over 5 minutes).

Nevertheless, this partly Greek band that currently resides in Germany has definitely some talent. There’s some excellent heavy metal on this album; great riffs and an overdose of conviction.

If you dig underground old school heavy metal and pretty much dislike the current wannabe heavy metal scene in Europe you might want to check this release out. It can’t get much more authentic than this. Don’t expect anything new or groundbreaking though.
