This is one of those releases that hits you right away. From the get go Archetype hooks you with powerful riffs and melodic tunes entwined into powerful songs that tingle the imagination. Not often does a debut album sound this mature. These Americans deliver some very strong power metal with delicate progressive touches. Where normally I am not a big fan of progressive metal, Archetype have managed to keep a perfect balance between all the elements. Always threading the edge but never falling off; never crossing that line that leads to boredom. The dynamics of the songs simply keep you hooked.

Limb Music Productions seem to have a knack for finding talented American power metal acts.

Hats off! Thank god there’s labels out there that offer these guys a deal because frankly I’m sometimes wondering why bands like Archetype have trouble finding a decent label. Is it because American power metal is too underground? It can’t be the lack of powerful melodies and great riffs because it’s definitely all there. Add to that excellent vocals and a good production and you have a recipe for a great album.

The acoustic intro to the epic and outstanding final track “Years Ago” sends shivers down your spine. What an excellent melody, what a feeling. This is melodic power metal at its best and I advice you, nay I urge you, to get this album. It’s simply great stuff.
