For someone used to listening to ten to fifteen minute epics, listening to the new Vopos` album is quite an experience. The Price Of Being Young – a nice album title when you know that this Dutch band originated in the late seventies – features 24 hardcore punk songs averaging close to two minutes per song. The music was recorded within two days, 24 songs in two days, you do the math. Most of the songs were recorded in just one take, giving the album a sort of live feel.

All tracks are single speed punk rock killers. There’s hardly a moment where Vopo shift into a lower gear, when they do it’s only to serve as a nice intro to break into the next high speed bang-rocker. Being not such a big fan of the genre it’s not too easy to tell you something of the quality of the songs. Judging from my head nodding while writing this review, I can only conclude that the album does what it is intended to do.
