First of all, let’s set things straight. The promo inlay of this debut album of The Bereaved says we’re dealing with the new Swedish death metal hope. Uhm, I guess the people at Black Lotus Records know something about music, but the music on Darkened Silhouette has nothing to do with death metal.

When the little silver disc turned its first rounds in my CD-player I thought I was dealing with a new clone of The Haunted or At The Gates, since the music of The Bereaved shows some similarities.

But after listening to Darkened Silhouette a couple of times more, I had to change my opinion. This album is pretty good. The melodies and brutality are in harmony and the production is great. But it’s definitely not the new metal hope of Sweden.
