Aborted have always been more than your average neighbourhood death/grind combo; more brutal, catchier and skilled than the thousands of bands that inhibit this musical genre.
The early beginning, their debut Purity Of Perversion already showed signs of things to come. The development continued on Engineering The Dead, which was their first album for the French label Listenable Records, but the unique character of Aborted came to full fruition on the critically acclaimed Goremageddon: The Saw & The Carnage Done.

Now Aborted is ready to unleash its fourth full length upon the world and they’ve never sounded better. Of course their trademark brutal death/grind metal is present and has never been recorded as vicious as now but this time there is room for experiments also. “The Inertia” begins with a blues-rock riff that is woven into a blend of tempos and grooves that continue throughout the song; possibly Aborted’s catchiest song up until now. The industrial beginning of “Voracious Haemoglobinic Syndrome” (which was also present on the Haematobic EP along with “Gestated Rabidity”) is very short but can maybe be seen as an indication of the future musical direction of the band as I even hear a keyboard in the back, laying down some mood enhancing melody lines.

Vocal maniac Sven grunts and screams as if he is hanging from a meat hook and is during some songs joined by guests. Bo Summer (Illdisposed), Michael Bogballe (Mnecic) and Jacob Bredahl (Hatesphere) all give act de presence on various songs. New drummer Gilles Delecroix is the follow up for the infamous Dirk Verbeuren (Scarve, Soilwork, and Yyrkoon) and does an excellent job helped by the warm organic drum sound that is so rare these days.

It may sound as a cliché but The Archaic Abattoir gets better every time it’s played. The album is so full of contrasting musical elements, so rich in catchy songs and so expertly produced by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic, Extomorph,) that the competition will have a hard time topping this.
