Voices Of Decay is an Italian band formed in 1995. They have already released two studio recordings – Demo from 1997 and Nocturnal Domain from 2000 on Gang Bang Promotions. Their third effort is well-tempered, well-mixed four songs representing black metal with some incorporations of doom and death. The vocalist Menz follows Scandinavian vocalists in building-creating a sound of a bear, an extraterrestrial living being, or the evil sufferer, but not a human. He arises from the first track with this roaring in surprising contrast to a riff a la NWOBHM. But the second song makes the twist direct into the waves of black metal with gloomy lyrics, even more gloomy keyboards and beyond-the-grave singing.

The third track is really more living and cheerful as far as it can be in the framework of this style with even some remindings of Rammstein’s keyboards. Fast, fun and impressive… The guitars (by the way, the guitarist Lukas also can be found in the Graveworm line-up right now) and keyboards (Chris) intertwine and flow into each other with a sweet playful mood, which only makes the entire picture more tragic and more relief … Well, all I can say is if it is put into CD-player it won’t leave it until having been listened for at least several times. Though there are many issues with the style standards; Voices Of Decay have no problem with authentic thinking. Yes, it’s really worth your attention.
