You could already have heard of French Bloody Sign, playing Death metal (a la maybe old Morgoth) with some black innuendos in veins of Kaamos or Verminous, reminding even of Immortal and Satyricon for their black vibes. You could know them maybe by word of mouth: throughout the whole European underground scene they play live as much as they can: in their archives Bloody Sign have played gigs on one stage with Immolation, Krisiun, Behemoth, Centurian, Pentacle, Dew Scented, Avenger, Cradle Of Filth, Impaled Nazarene, Secrets Of The Moon, Root, Torr, Your Shapeless Beauty, Furia, Loits and etc. in France, Belgium, Germany, Czech republic and Estonia. Or you could have seen their drummer Ilmar with Incantation during their 2004 tour; or you could have heard one of their demos “Nocturnal Moans Of The fallen Angel” 1997, “Dionysos Contre Le Crucifie” 1998, or “Estonian Sessions” 2002. Yes, they have long history filled with a lot of line-up changes and touring. And no matter if you knew them before or even if it’s a brand new name for you - hurry up! At least we have a chance to listen to their studio effort! This is their first full-length album and you will not be disappointed. It’s furious, ominous and impressive like an avalanche, with its many tempo changes and smashing riffs. But I should remark, there are only 5 authentic studio tracks on this CD.

The title track is an old woman’s mutter, singing, vows and howls. Of course, it’s the most disputable moment in this release. Someone can say it’s just a filler and has nothing to do with the other tracks and you even can find something African here, but for me it’s like a sudden stop from some furious attack, just like a silent interruption between two battles – and who should enter? Yeah, Valkiria flies over the ruined fields or an old totally mad woman mourning her losses. Something like that. And unexpectedly it brings fantastic deepness and tangibility to the entire album. But… maybe it’s just too long though - 2:41… Also here we have the well-done cover of “Parricide” from Pestilence’s LP “Malleus Maleficarum”. Someone needs much impudence, skills and even luck to make an acceptable cover of a Pestilence song. And you know, they did it right. The closer here is a live-track “Master Of Nothing” recorded at “La Laiterie” in April 2003 with a really good sound quality. As for the rest of the tracks, recorded with Sven “Aksel” Varkel at his Guano Studio (Tallin) and mixed in France, the sound is pretty good too. And if it’s not enough to make a conclusion, I’ll add that the short timing of the release is the only negative moment here… But it will make us wait for the next album with even more impatience.
