Still going strong; the river of tributes. The third that I know of of Queen this time and by far the best. The musicians that are involved on this one are really top class and the versions they laid down together are true to the original but show the individual trademarks of the guys as well. From ‘Stone Cold Crazy On’ it is a musical party. Who are on this one you ask? Pfff, got a minute? The best known are Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big/David lee Roth), Eric Singer (Kiss/ Alice Cooper), Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) who is reunited with Pat Thrall on ‘Killer Queen’!!, Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Planet X), Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani), Mikkey Dee (Motörhead), Steve Lukather and Mike Porcaro (Toto) and really a lot more. | |

Some combinations of musicians sound awesome some a bit less, I am curious to see if maybe a new supergroup will come out of all these tributes. Most remarkable tracks; ‘Somebody To Love’ surprisingly sung by Geoff Tate, ‘Stone Cold Crazy’ wildly performed with the playing fun audible, the even more Rock’n Rolled version of ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ by Matt and Gunnar (Timotei twins) Nelson and the less known ‘Fight From The Inside’ strongly performed by Jack Blades, Jake E. Lee, Tony Levin and Tony Thompson, one of those combinations that really sound great together.
10 years after the death of Freddie Mercury...he’s honoured with a great tribute by a handful of Rock legends, listen for yourselves!
