Adimiron hails from Italy, a land mostly known for its densely populated power metal scene, so it’s a bit of a surprise that these guys play death/thrash metal.

“Burning Souls” was released some time ago (August 2004) but due to a change of label contact back then we unfortunately missed this release. Luckily, the band contacted us themselves so at last the album earns its well-deserved review.
The band was formed in 2001 and has since then been busy by releasing a promo, an EP and now a full-length debut album on Dutch label, Karmageddon Media.

The music on Burning Souls is a mix of familiar ingredients and some surprises. Adimiron claim that they play innovative death/thrash metal but they still incorporate a lot of the typical rhythms and song structures of the (Swedish) modern thrash scene (just listen to the beginning of “New Way Denied” and you’ll know what I mean. What makes Adimiron different in my opinion is the clever use of keyboards and the occasional black metal touch in the tracks.

The album sounds very good (apparently, the studio it was recorded in, The New Sin Studios is one of the best in Italy) and the playing abilities of these guys are beyond any doubt. High speed thrash riffing is combined with mid tempo parts to keep things interesting and recognizable. My main problem with the wave of modern thrash/death bands is that they lack any punch. It all sounds just not aggressive enough. This is certainly not the case with Adimiron; they know how to keep the music intense and brutal.

The best track on “Burning Souls” is “Obsessive Insanity” which incorporates all aforementioned elements of their sound into one great song.
Because this album was already recorded way back in July 2004 I think it’s about time the second album should be on its way. I certainly hope I will receive that one in a timely manner because this is just quality music.
