This single was released quite a while ago. Unchained even produced a full-length album recently which was – like this single – also released by Sound Riot. This single is a disk with (sadly only) 4 songs. Or actually only three, since the fourth song is the same as the first – it’s only a different recording.
The single kicks off with “My Guide”, a catchy song which holds a nice balance between heavy and power metal. The clean vocals on this single fit well with their metal: no nonsense. The second track “Open Your Eyes” is another catchy one, contains a bit more melody even. Former singer Sebastian Viitanen (ex-Buszer) is the guest appearance on this song. There’s Iron Maiden throughout the whole album, and especially on this track. | |
There is one part that strongly reminds me of “Fear Of The Dark”. This band is no clone though. And there is nothing wrong with clear Iron Maiden influences at all. In fact, there’s no better band to be influenced by. The third song is a continuance of the previous songs; this one just includes some slower parts as well. There are enough differences between the songs though, don’t get me wrong. Per Karlsson proves to be vocally talented on this rather long song. The fourth song wasn’t very necessary in my opinion. The first track has a better recording so why bother adding a bad one? Nonetheless, this single is a great way to quickly hear what Unchained have to offer. I strongly advice people to buy either this or their recent album. (Fleur) |
