Hell Driver is a Dutch band and ‘Rock ‘m Raw’ is their first full-length release. The band was founded at the beginning of the new millennium and I think the band had one motto at that time: hit the pedal to the metal. ‘Rock ‘m Raw’ is filled with dirty up-tempo rock and roll in the vein of Motörhead, Nashville Pussy and Peter Pan Speedrock. Especially the influence of Motörhead can’t be missed, because singer Theo sounds almost exactly like Lemmy; he has the same whiskey and cigarette drained voice.

I might be a dumbass or something, but Motörhead never really interested me.

Sure, I know their ‘famous’ songs, but the rest of their work never really attracted me. But after listening to ‘Rock ‘m Raw’ I have to say that this kind of music is actually pretty cool. It’s a dose of no-nonsense heavy rock and roll or as we would say in some parts of Holland: gas op d’n pin en goan! (which means something like ‘hit the pedal to the metal and go crazy’). Well, that’s what the music does to me anyway.
