I had never heard of Loudblast before, but after a bit of research I found out that this band is one of the pioneers of the French death metal scene and that they’ve made a couple of albums in the early nineties. Well, at least I learned something new today, haha!
Since 1992 Loudblast is one of the most important bands in the French metal scene and they have obtained a large fan base throughout the country. After an official video and a compilation album, the band decided to split up in 1999. But when Loudblast was asked to play on a benefit show for the late Chuck Schuldiner they noticed that their ‘magical touch’ was still there. | |
With that fact in their back pocket, Loudblast started the recordings for ‘Planet Pandemonium’ and the result is an album with a mix of mid-tempo death and thrash metal. I have to say that the emphasis on most of the songs is on the mid-tempo parts, which get a bit boring after a while. The good production of ‘Planet Pandemonium’ makes up a little for it though, but when the CD is finished I’m not totally satisfied. (Lars) |
