The first thing that comes to mind when you’re listening to “Got Blooze” is the question why most aged musicians feel the urge to release an album filled with covers. In this case it might have to do a little bit with the genre. Let’s face it; the blues scene isn’t one of the popular genres at the moment. The present day youth can hardly recall any blues classic. “Got Blooze” features twelve covers ranging from “House Of The Rising Sun” to “Baby Please Don’t Go”.

Neither of the tracks sounds that original, despite the characteristic bold and expressive technique. The quality of the sound is superb. The clear sound mixes excellent with the rough edged vocals of West. Fans of the genre will be pleased to hear that the bass and the drums are in the hands of Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge and Jeff Beck) and Aynsley Dunbar, who gained some fame for his work with Zappa and John Mayall).
