Mana was already released back in 2003 so I have no idea why this album arrived in my mail only a couple of weeks ago. Of all the Elektrohasch albums I’ve heard so far, this release by Danish Gas Giant, isn’t the one that impressed me most. I don’t mind listening to classic rock sounds from the sixties or seventies, but when the sound quality drops below tape level, I’m lost, no matter the quality level of the tracks. Most of the songs have evolved out of rehearsal jam sessions and the entire album breathes a relaxed atmosphere. For those stoners among you that like organic songs with solid (but hardly ever exciting) melodies and a healthy dose of rock and roll you might want to check this album out. | |
In its genre it stands out because of the perfect harmony between the music and the vocals, both rather raw in nature and in the mix. Another major plus is the fact that there’s a lot of variety between tracks. Mana is therefore an interesting album from the first to the last song. If it wasn’t for the sound quality - which is, I have no doubt as it was intended, I would have enjoyed this album even more. (Geert) |
