“Don’t Wanna Run” is a four track CDM that is only available through the websites of the band and the record label. The maxi opens with a special single edit of the song “Don’t Want To Run”. On this track I find the vocals of Helena Michaelsen a little bit too theatrical to my liking. There’s nothing wrong with slightly bombastic vocals but in combination with the grand piano on the opening song there’s a lack of balance. The second song “Mother” is an acoustic version of a track from the upcoming album “A Woman’s Diary” and makes me very anxious about the original.

The vocals are more controlled and the extended instrumentation creates a better balance. The only surprise on this four track release is the final track “Darkness” with exceptional vocals in the vein of Kate Bush. The contrast between this expressive music and the occasionally too arranged ballads is mind blowing. If this release was meant as a teaser for the upcoming album I have to say that it worked fine.
