The new Sleazy Dreams EP “Backdraft” starts out very promising with the excellent melodic punk rocker “Gimme Your Soul”. The entire track is in perfect balance and boasts of energy. Listening to the next track “In A Lonely Time” makes you wonder whether this is still the same band you as you were listening to before. Sleazy Dreams attempt to write and record some sort of ballad and fail from the first to the final chord. The vocals seem to be in constant disharmony with the music, and it was just this that made opener “Gimme Your Soul” so good! With the third track the band seems to fall into the same trap, but luckily the Sleazy Dreams recapture themselves with a rock ‘n roll closing section that pulls this song into the green.

The final song “Say My Name” is more in the punk rock vain that I liked so much in the opening track. This is definitely the direction in which this Dutch band should evolve.
