Prostitute Disfigurement was formed in 2000 but this is already their third full length! Under the name Disfigure a demo was released before that but I guess the name wasn’t tasteless enough so the change to Prostitute Disfigurement (Pros Dis for connoisseurs) was quickly made.
The first two albums were released by Dismemberment Records and German cult label Morbid Records but for the third album they decided to find a label closer to home and inked a deal with Neurotic Records.
I can imagine why Neurotic are so excited about releasing this album because this is one of the most brutal, intense albums to ever have been recorded on Dutch soil.
This is death metal in extreme overdrive. From the first second on the band hammers down all opposition and go straight for their goal: delivering sick death metal with disturbing lyrics intent on shocking everyone.
“Left In Grisly Fashion” has been recorded at the Excess Studios (Thanatos, Detonation, Disavowed), this is almost a guarantee nowadays for a good sound and again this is true. Vocals were recorded in a mobile studio under guidance of Robbe K. | |
(Disavowed, Arsebreed) and he, along with Joel from Pyaemia and Arsebreed, also does some guest vocals.
The first few seconds of the album guide you in the wrong direction as it sounds like a crappy black metal production but then the real sound kicks in and the hurting doesn’t stop until after 25 minutes and eight tracks with lovely titles like “Freaking On The Mutilated” and “Victims Of The Absurd”. The ninth track, “In Death’s Decay” is the black sheep on this CD as it is an keyboard intermezzo serving as an intro to the final track “Bloodlust Redemption”.
The funny thing about Prostitute Disfigurement is that they play one of the most extreme music styles ever invented but still manage to write songs. Don’t get me wrong, I love brutal death metal but on most albums it’s hard to tell when one track ends and the other begins because they all sound the same. Pros Dis have the ability to write tracks with a beginning, middle and an end without losing intensity or brutality. This is what makes this such a great album. (Roy) |
