In this month’s episode of Unlikely Metal Countries, we present you Malta. After last month’s instalment in which we brought a visit to Singapore (see the review of Rudra ) it is now time to turn or attention to the Mediterranean Sea. In the middle of the aforementioned sea lies Malta, an island group with approximately 380.000 inhabitants.
Five of the locals can be found in the brutal death metal band Beheaded. Last year they signed a deal with the American Unique Leader label and “Ominous Bloodline” is the first release.

I can type a long and boring story about why this is such a good album but the bottom line is this: if you like any other Unique Leader release, you will also like this one.

It has some of the groove of Gorgasm, a bit of the insane riffing of Spawn Of Possession and the brutality of Severed Savior.

The production of “Ominous Bloodline” is maybe the weakest point of this album, the drums sound a bit weird and the vocals could be a bit more upfront but then again: everything is audible and in the end this album will be played at such a high volume that all subtle details will be blown away.

I am well aware of the fact that this is not the most original album ever, it fits perfectly in the US Brutal Death Metal wave that is popular nowadays but I don’t care: a good album is a good album. Beheaded attacks and kills; end of story.
