As I was surfing the internet to find some information on Deadlock, I noticed their website www.xdeadlockx.com and I thought I had to do with a straightedge hardcore band. Well, I was right about the straightedge part, but wrong about the hardcore part. These Germans combine melodic death with a bit of symphonic black, metalcore and Gothenburg thrash. And it turns out to sound quite cool!

Deadlock has been around since 1997. After a 7”, a 7-track MCD and line-up change, the band reached their final and most stable line-up before the recording of their full-length debut ‘The Arrival’.

That was also the first time Deadlock used Sabine Weniger for keyboards and female vocals. She is also present on ‘Earth.Revolt’, but don’t expect real girly gothic vocals. Sabine is blessed with a great voice and has some talents for playing keyboards too.

The production of ‘Earth.Revolt’ is great, but the grunt vocals of Johannes are a bit on the soft side. But that’s the only weak spot in the production I could find.
