Hypocrisy has finally reached that stage in their carreer that they require no introduction anymore. Considering the fact that this, meanwhile legendary, Swedish deathmetal act was on the verge of calling it a day after the release of The Final Chapter it`s an amazing accomplisment the band has managed to appeal to such a large audience and that their fanbase has only grown in the past 4 years. And with `10 Years of Chaos and Confusion` they have absolutely managed to reward the fans for their loyalty. Not 1 but 2 CDs are unleashed upon the masses. The first one contains a compilation of the best Hypocrisy songs, not selected from the band`s point of view, but as chosen by the fans. The second disc should be even more interesting for the fans as it features both material from the early days (the 1991 and 1992 demos) and a brand-new song (Turn the Page) that is yet to be released. In addition to all of this the Swedes haven`t chosen the easy way and didn`t just settle for simply taking tracks from all Hypocrisy albums and use the good ol` `copy/paste` trick. | |
In order to offer their fans that little extra the band has re-recorded the songs from the Penetralia / Osculum Obscenum / The Fourth Dimension era! I won`t give it all away but, besides of course the improved production, Hypocrisy has also re-aranged certain parts in some of these songs. So for all ya Hypo-crazies out there: spot the differences and let me know if you prefer the newer versions over the old ones or vice versa! The overview of a decade of deathmetal Chaos and Confusion spread by the Swedes provides a excellent overview of the different sides of this band and thus offers a very good representation if you`re not familiar with Hypocrisy yet. And fans can complete their Hypocrisy catalogue with the original demo recordings, new versions of songs like `Left to Rot`, `The Fourth Dimension` and `Osculum Obscenum` and unreleased song. In short: a more than worthy celebration! (Maura) |
