Looking at this SQY album cover leaves not much room for imagination. This album is filled with eleven songs (clocking over forty minutes) that make you want to put your foot down until you reach a hundred miles an hour. The nice artwork, the bonus DVD, no energy was spared to make ‘Full Throttle’ an album worth spending your money on. Even the ballads on ‘Full Throttle’ boast of energy. The power rock of this foursome from the Netherlands differs from the average power rock music because of the inventive combination of loud guitars and cool intersections (especially the original multiple vocal parts). | |
“Southern Moon” is such a track where greasy guitars and bluesy vocals are followed by heavy refrains and the closing track “No Queda” with it’s Mexican sounds will absolutely drive you mad; excellent stuff!. SQY is power rock for the more educated rock fan. One of the most remarkable things is the sound of the album, which was recorded by the band in their own studio. This semi professional recording gives the album just that edgy feel that roughness that in fact defines the music. With ‘Full Throttle’ SQY have released an album that has international potential. This one is worth checking out. (Geert) |
