Ever since I laid my hands on the excellent ‘Burnig Organ’, I consider myself as a Paul Gilbert fan. In my opinion there is not a single guitarist in the world that has more fun in playing his guitar. Listening to this guy simply makes you happy! What I particularly like are the strong rhythms and the uplifting vocals in the refrains. It might come as no surprise that ‘Space Ship One’ features fourteen of such tracks. One of the absolute highlights on the album is the second track ‘Every Hot Girl Is A Rockstar’, a classic Gilbert song that will, no doubt, become a live classic.

It’s hard to believe that there’s so much power in this seemingly simple track. Another of the highlights is the first of the two instrumental tracks where besides the guitar, the drums play a very dominant role and once more prove to me that Paul Gilbert = Rock! For the fans of Gilbert there’s more good news besides this excellent new album. After the success of his previous solo releases, and the expected success of the new album, Gilbert will finally come to Europe for concerts this year. You can definitely expect a review of one of these shows on Rockezine!
