Besides on CD, Carl Verheyen’s ‘Live In LA’ recording is also being released on DVD. The first thing I noticed is that there are only ten songs on this DVD, exactly the same songs as on the CD. I’d expected at least one or two extra tracks, but clearly Provogue decided that the photo gallery and the rehearsal and behind the scenes footage would be enough to satisfy the Verheyen’s fans. ‘Live In LA’ was shot in a small theatre in the city of angels. The overall atmosphere lies closer to your living room than a concert hall. One of the things I dislike about the stage set up is the lack of colour. Blue (lights) and black (side wings) are the dominating colours.

The single off colour is the red shirt worn by drummer Bernie Dresel. The show was shot by using several cameras. It’s too bad that almost every single shot shows one or more camera men. I’m also not that impressed with pictures shot of the hand. These are usually very unstable. What I do like about this DVD is the fact that you can actually see the master guitarist work his instrument. There are some very nice close ups and the sound of the show is excellent. The investment in a crane definitely pays of, making up for the lousy lights.
