Magica’s 2002 debut “The Scroll Of Stone” is being re-released in 2004 to prepare the public for the new album called “Lightseeker”. The debut is a concept album on which this Romanian band tells the story of a princess who loses her soul to the devil and her quest to recapture her soul. The album was generally labelled as promising melodic symphonic metal, however too much in the vein of the band’s main influences Rhapsody, Nightwish and Stratovarius.

The quality of female vocalist Ana, lacking power and expression, worried most of the reviewers. The positive point often mentioned was the Romanian lyrics and the medieval elements in the music giving the band an own identity. This re-issue brought the attention back to Magica, the question remained whether Magica has learned from the criticism on their debut, hopefully “Lightseeker” will be the necessary step forward.
