This quartet from Australia impressed me with their previous record “Sands Of Time” and I can safely say that I highly anticipated this release. The problem with anticipation is that it can easily lead to disappointment and truth be told after listening to “Silent Company” for the very first time I was slightly skeptical. However fear not, this album needs to grow on you. It takes time to appreciate the slightly more subtle songs.

Compared to “Sands Of Time” nothing much has changed and the band seems to stick to their successful formula with a familiar old school production and powerful old school melodic metal tracks. One could say that Black Majesty played it safe but on the other hand why blame them? Never change a winning team as the saying goes and what we have here is definitely a winning team.

Excellent tracks with powerful melodies and a good dose of diversity. John Gio Cavaliere’s vocals are as good as I remember them. John has his very own sound which adds greatly to the identity of Black Majesty and sets this band apart from their compatriots.

“Silent Company” is a great old school melodic metal album that will please fans of the genre. If you aren’t familiar with these Australians, think of a reborn Queensr˙che from the pre “Operation: Mindcrime” period. Sure I would have liked to see a bit more distinctive sounding album but heck what we have here is classic heavy metal at its best. Why complain when you play “Silent Company” over and over again?
