This new Mascot Records release is just about everything you’d expect. A gathering of the all star formation Steve Smith, Dave Liebman, Aydin Esen and Anthony Jackson is a guarantee for quality . Most of our readers however won’t be interest in this release since there’s hardly any rock on it, it’s for most jazz. Therefore I see no use in rating this album. However, having reviewed most of the Mascot jazz(rock) releases in the past few months I must say that this one, “Flashpoint” is one of the better, probably the best.

The main reason is that all four musicians are equal, resulting in a very solid and perfectly balanced hour of excellent music. This one beats any solo project by miles and miles and miles. If you ever decide on checking out whether you have some jazz in your body “Flashpoint” is an excellent album to check out. If you don’t like it, you’re not the jazz kind of man.
