“Splitting Headache” is the 2003 debut EP of a Canadian rock trio named after the two founding brothers Jeffery. I’ve got no idea why this EP landed on my desk only two weeks ago, but my guess is that the brothers decided on gaining some extra promotion.

The EP features five songs showing more than one side of the band. The opener, the title track, is a straight forward rock song with some popular punk rock influences in the vein of, for example, Simple Plan.

“Wishing” is the ballad on the EP and proves that the brothers are capable of writing potential radio material. The fact that The Rolling Stones were a mayor influence during the Jeffery’s education becomes more than obvious in the fourth and the fifth track where the vocals and the guitars sound very familiar. All in all a pretty decent EP giving a nice impression of the capabilities of these Canadians, certainly good enough to earn a record deal.
