From the first tones of “Heartbreak Radio” it’s obvious that this band isn’t as young as one might expect. The band was founded in 2004 but features some settled names in the melodic rock scene. What to think of names like Pierre Weinsberg (ex-Prisoner), Mikkey Dee (Motörhead) and Magnus Rosén (Hammerfall), every single one of these stands for high quality. Heartbreak Radio was formed as a tribute to past times heroes like Airplane, Journey and Whitesnake, so I don’t have to tell you what the music sounds like. I must admit that Heartbreak Radio did a great job of combining their references into fresh sounding AOR. | |
The broad musical interest of the gathered musicians resulted in a varied album even more because of the use of two vocalists, Weinsberg and Mikael Erlandsson. Highlights are “Now Your’ Gone” (this isn’t my typo error) and the balled “Let Me Have Your Heart Again”, which brings me to the worst aspect of the album. If you hate corny, sweet, tone crushing track titles you should definitely avoid this album! (Geert) |
