Although I’m no blues expert, most blues cd’s end up on my doorstep. “Cross That Line” is the new album of Dutch Bullfrog Blues Machine and stands out for its great packaging; although I’m not that fond of the album cover. It’s obvious that someone spent a lot of time and money on making this a cd that looks as good as it sounds. As I wrote, I’m not a real blues fan. Good thing is that you don’t have to be to determine that “Cross That Line” is an excellent release.

All twelve songs stand out because of their uncomplicated compositions and the plain use of instruments. Crystal clear guitars and Hammond over true blues rhythms giving the album a modern and somewhat electric sound. Recommended for anyone who thinks that blues is for elderly people or anyone who thinks that only black people can get the blues.
