Goddess Of Desire started in the beginning as a fun idea but after winning several prices they started to take this band more seriously. Since that time they played some high profile shows (Dynamo Open Air, Wacken Open Air, supporting for Gwar, etc.etc.) released several EP’s, some video’s and three albums. “Awaken Pagan Gods” is their fourth album.
Goddess Of Desire plays metal from the eighties with a high sing-along percentage. Most of the songs are played mid-tempo with sometimes really nice guitar solo’s. I think Goddess Of Desire can play faster but almost the whole album they play the music in mid-tempo. The track “Booze” has got a refrain which sounds really bad; if you hear this you’re thinking this must be a bad demo from a band who doesn’t take himself serious. | |
If you’re into eighties old-school nothing new metal this album is a must have for you, if you’re not then don’t even listen to this album.
The artwork (as you can see) is great. The horse, the fire en the axe really let me think of our Viking hero’s from Amon Amarth.
The album sounds good, but Goddess Of Desire is on his best when they are on stage, but do we have to take the albums really serious? Maybe when they pay more attention to the music instead of the shows they could do better.
