Searing I is another Swedish death/thrash band which was formed in 1999 in Uppsula, out of the remains of the death metal band The Prophecy. In 2001 the first demo was released and the fourth demo entitled "Tons Of Hate" was released in 2004 and this led to the singing with Black Lotus Records from Greece.

Whenever a band needs four demo`s to get signed it always arouses some suspicion. Either the band is ahead of its time and simply isn`t recognized or, most of the times, the band just isn`t good enough.

Unfortunately, the latter is the case with Searing I. Their Scandinavian thrash in the vein of the Haunted and bands like that is so generic that there`s not one moment to be found that sounds really inspired or original. Andreas Öman`s voice gets tiresome after a few songs because it simply isn’t strong enough. The songwriting is another thing they need to work on in my opinion.

All 14 tracks are more or less the same in terms of length, structure and speed. They’re not entirely interchangeable due to some minor effects and slower parts but in general “Bloodshred” sounds as one long track. It this is what they were aiming for, so be it, but I like my thrash a bit more varied I’m afraid.

Being Swedish, the instrument handling is of course no problem at all (I yet have to find a Swedish band that’s really terrible) and the production is more than adequate. “Bloodshred” was recorded in the Blueflame Productions Studio and although this is a new studio, the producer duo Teddy Möller and Niklas Kupper did a fine job.

The deal Searing I inked with Black Lotus is a for tree albums, so they got two more up their sleeve, a lot of room and possibilities for improvement though.
