In the past this band was compared with Sepultura but with this album they definitely are loosing that stamp. For those who don’t know, Criminal is a band originally from Chili, the first record they released was in 1994. They where one of the best selling South American bands but after some internal problems front man Reisenegger decided to move to Europe (U.K.). After a while guitar player Rodrigo Contreras and Juan FCO Cueto also moved to Europe and Criminal was back on track.
“Sicario” is the second release for the band since that time (and the seventh in the history of the band). | |
The band sounds as good as before. ”Sicario” is a release with almost no South American influence, I say almost because “Walking Dead” sometimes sounds like Sepultura or Soulfly mixed with some nice oldschool metalriffs.
The music from Criminal sounds familiar but I never heard this album before. It’s because they have used a lot of parts from million different bands (Kreator, Soilwork, Sepultura etc.).
Criminal is a band that grows with every album. They are getting better, maybe it’s time for the band to bring it to a higher level, but how I don’t know; do you?
