A few years back I called Talisma nearly as good as Unicorn Digital best selling band Mystery. After the new album “Chromium” I think that the Canadian band even topped Mystery. The album sounds incredibly warm and truly atmospheric. The music boosts energy due to the ingenious breaks, the broad range of influences and the excellent bass playing of Donald Fleurent, whose style reminds me a bit of Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings). To be true the music itself isn’t far off from the instrumental compositions from the Flower Kings camp. | |
“Chromium” was recorded the same was as its predecessor. Ideas were brought to life in jams and recorded the same day. Talisma hoped to have captured the true spirit of each individual song in this way. Well, they succeeded BIG time and even more managed to turn these individual pieces into a killer album. The entire album sounds fresh and original. It’s hard to believe that these songs were formed in a single day! Hail to jams, hail to Talisma, hail to “Chromium”.
