This is the first time I hear from The Absence; they originate from Florida and play melodic death metal (that sounds cool doesn’t it?). The band was founded in 2001, by two friends, blabla and more of that kind of stuff is written in their biography. Most of the time, a band’s biography is filled with crap. Stop that please.
The music from this band sounds Swedish. In the beginning it sounds a bit like our Viking heroes from Amon Amarth. But there’s more. The second song starts as an Amon Amarth track but it has a very big tempo change and the music sounds very different. | |
The songs also contain very good guitar riffs.
Unfortunately there’s a song on “From Your Grave” which I can’t exactly place on this album. “Seven Demons” is a strange track. In this song someone is trying to sing (some very bad Killswitch rip off) and there are also some bad solos. I hope for the band that this song was a mistake.
You can compare this album to a lot of other bands but on the other hand The Absence have managed to create their own sound. This album is surely listening worthy! (Jeroen) |
