Ill Nino is one of the biggest bands in the world of Latinmetal, the last five years. “One Nation Underground” is their fourth album (three on Roadrunner and an EP).
Ill Nino was always a band for the mainstream and with this album they still are. The sound is now a bit more oriented to the metal than the other albums.
The album is very varied in songs, there are hard songs (“This Is War”, “Turns To Gray”), Spanish sounding songs (“In This Moment”) and touchy love songs (“My Pleasant Torture”) on this album. Is Ill Nino after six years still searching for their kind of music? Or is it because they are with six persons and they have made some compromises?
The songs are in English and Spanish, Machado switches effortless between both languages and that’s very impressive. | |
But what is Jamey Jasta doing on this album? I think the guy is fond on every bit of publicity he can get because you can see and hear the guy everywhere nowadays. But as usual he sounds cool in the song “Turns To Gray”.
“One Nation Underground” is a nice but not very spectacular album
