This German metal outfit is back with another classic heavy metal onslaught and while their guitarist changed, the music has still pretty much remained the same. Paragon plays heavy metal the way it was meant to be played and they take you right back in time to the eighties with classic tracks like “Impaler”, “Assassins” and “Symphony Of Pain”.

The things I like best about Paragon are the strong vocals and the great ripping guitar riffs. Singer Andreas Babuschkin has a throat made for heavy metal; it is raw and powerful but he doesn’t have any problems with the more melodic parts either. During the slow mid tempo banger “Symphony Of Pain” he simply shines.

The production of “Revenge” has been done by Piet Sielck again and I must admit the sound is great. It’s authentic, heavy yet still clear. It sounds like a heavy metal album should sound. On the other hand though, this release isn’t going to change much for Paragon but then again I doubt change is what they are looking for. “Revenge” is simply a very solid heavy metal release that I can advice to any fan of the genre. To top the album off Paragon added the Manowar cover “The Gods Made Heavy Metal”; it’s brilliant in all its corniness.
