Darwin used to be a pretty unknown band out of the North of Holland. After releasing their mcd ‘This mental nourishment …my drive’ I think that’s going to change though.
They release intense and chaotic music together with a metalcore-sound. I call it metalcore sounding music but I think putting this band in a certain category is not an honest thing to do according to their record. Bands like Sky Came Falling and Poison The Well are references.Although these bands may have a bit more mosh core in it, and tend to be a bit more emotional. However Darwin is a band that is hard to compare to other bands, and the given examples compare in a way for me. | |
The mix of emotions and brutal music may not be original anymore. But their fine style and feeling for dedication makes it all better than most of the other bands trying to find a balance between hardcore and metal.
They use the guitar parts to bring the melody in their music while the drum patterns keep on being tight. The singer does a great job finding the balance between harsh screaming and spoken word. All this makes it a band with dedication and passion for fine music. The lyrics and the music fit well together, so according to me this band is refreshing and really worth a try!
