Scorched stone walls, cracked and crumbling, a majestically devastated proud kingdom long past, ruins. Heavy and overpowering, Ruins creates slow and solid death metal with some blackish elements. The band origins from Australia and started out in the year 2000, though their first demo was released in late 2003. In 2004 the demo - counting only 25 copies – was re-released as an EP titled ´Atom and Time´. The unchanged line-up of the band is Alex Pope (guitars, bass, vocals) and David Haley (drums).

Spun Forth as Dark Nets is well played and produced. On the other hand, the music isn’t too complicated or original, and quite easy to listen to, meaning it gets a bit boring after several spins. Also, the vocals can’t interest me a bit, in average being some sort of mid-way between screams and grunts. The album is probably best listened to as background music while being busy with other things.
