Grinroth is totally new band for me, but they exist for a while now. The band got formed in 2001 by singer Roelof and guitarist Martin. Just like every (starting) band, Grinroth had a couple of line-up changes. As a five-piece the band started working on their repertoire, rehearsed a lot and played a lot of gigs. But in 2004 the other guitarist Erwin decided to leave the band and as a four-piece Grinroth went on.
Their musical style is somewhere between technical death metal and raw black metal. Singer Roelof uses a deep death grunt and a more hellish black metal scream, which sound extremely brutal. | |
Personally I think the music is quite interesting. It has a certain type of aggressiveness, but I can’t detect any real clichés.
The three tracks on this promo have a very nice and clean production and, I don’t know, but for some reasons the production reminds me bit of Morbid Angel; as does the guitar solo at the end of ‘Vendetta’, the last song of this promo.
Nice work guys, keep it up!
