Callenish Circle, of course, is well-known band… After they recorded their first demo “Lovelorn” in 1995, released debut-album “Drift of Empathy” in 1996, with producer Han Swagerman, they had some problems with record labels for releasing the following album “Graceful... yet Forbidding”, but in 2001 Edgerunner Records released their wonderful thoughtful second album with the “Escape” mini-CD as a bonus. In 2001 the fortune at least looked at them gracefully with the Metal Blade contract. So, free and winded, they found a fantastic form and insight with the next “Flesh_Power_Dominion” (2002) and “My Passion // Your Pain” 2003.
‘[Pitch.Black.Effects ]’ is their fifth album, which continues the way of their previous album evolution. For the fans this means that it is still in the vein of “Flesh_Power_Dominion” and “My Passion // Your Pain”. As Ronny Tyssen says, “Our fans don`t need to be afraid to hear a complete new band on “[Pitch.Black. | |
Effects]”… it`s still Callenish Circle, no doubt about that!” But at the same time you can see and hear the further development in their new work. Their effort on creating a new sound without loosing the typical Callenish Circle sound was a success. Some digital effects were added to get more catchy riffs and drum patterns.
Though they deal with such things like hate, anger, depression, the guys from Callenish Circle create joyful melodics (as much as it can be found in death/doom) and a living, bright sound, glistering with the light of… whatever you feel. Even if it’s a light of ignorance, or “Schwarzes Licht”. Yes, it’s a sign of a talent! The song structure, lyrics, guitar work – everything give you a clue to what talent means. Instrumental work as well as the producing is wonderful. So, if you are a fun of a style, or you have heard Callenish Circle and liked it, ‘[Pitch.Black.Effects ]’ is what you need to like them more!
