When I was a young boy I heard for the first time folk music out of my father’s stereo. It were the Dubliners I believe. I never liked it. But after a few years I discovered Shane Macgowan’s Pogues and after that I was totally crazy about folkpunk and I even went to a concert from The Dubliners with my dad.
Nowadays there are more folkpunk bands: The Real McKenzies, Dropkick Murphy’s, Flogging Molly and more of that kind of shit. The Tossers also play folkpunk with a lot of Irish influences.
This band is a great acquisition for this genre. | |
The music is catchy, funny, happy and when I’m listening this album I really want to party with some pints in my hand. The music is played with some typical Irish instruments like the mandolin, the banjo and the tin whistle. As all folkpunk bands this band has got also some slow played numbers on their album combined with lyrics about booze, politics and the life.
The Tossers is a band for the future and all the summer festivals in 2006
